2008 Rallycross Open Championship - racing on the edge!

Welcome from PSM Motorsport Ltd

PSM Motorsport Ltd, would like to welcome you to the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship, which takes place over seven rounds, concluding with the standalone 2008 Rallycross Superprix at Croft Circuit on Sunday October 26th.

There are six categories within the Rallycross Open Championship, which are as follows:

- Division 1/1S
- Division 1A
- Rear Wheel Drive Cup
- Super National (with an 800kg weight limit, including driver)
- Procar 2000
- Junior Rallycross

Alongside the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship, the Minicross Drivers Association will run a ten round Championship for the following categories:

- Procar 1600 (Formerly known as Stock Hatch)
- Minicross
- Revivals

The Procar 2000 category (For 2 litre multivalve cars) has already proven to be a big hit with drivers in 2007 and grids are expected to reach double figures in the very near future with a range of new cars being built. Stuart Emery made a winning debut with his Peugeot 306 at the London Masters last December, an event where Brian Jukes finished second at the wheel of a new SEAT Cordoba. 2007 Champion - Dave Baines is going down the Honda route for 2008 and with a number of Fords, Citroens, Vauxhalls and Renaults nearing completion this category is going to drive the sport forward over the next 12 months.

Included within the 2008 structure are categories for Division 1A and the Rear Wheel Drive Cup, falling into line with the European Rallycross Championship. PSM Motorsport Ltd have made no attempt to hide the fact that their goal is to obtain a round of the FIA European Rallycross Championship back in Great Britain in the near future and the closer the sport moves to European regulations, the easier it will be for this objective to be reached.

The first event of the new season took place at Croft Circuit on Sunday March 2nd. The opening round also included the prestigious 'English Rallycross Masters' title, which was won by 'Mad Mark' Watson, joining the following list of ex Champions:

2005 - Dermot Carnegie (IRE) - Ford Focus
2006 - Jacek Ptaszek (PL) - Toyota Corolla
2007 - Tony Bell (GB) - Toyota Corolla

With the high quality entries, the professional Championship image and the diversity of circuits that the Championship is set to visit, we are set for an intense season of competition. The Television package that the 2008 Rallycross Open Championship has in place, will provide endless benefits for drivers, sponsors and the Championship as a whole.
